How
to read your bill
Your gas
bill contains a lot of valuable information in addition to
the amount you owe. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself
with the items explained on this Columbia Gas of Virginia
bill example. Your bill will vary. If you have questions about
this example, or about your monthly bill, call Columbia Gas
of Virginia DirectLink at 1-800-543-8911.
- Bill
Payment Coupon
The top portion of the bill is torn off and returned
with your payment. It contains your account number, the
amount due, the payment due date, and a place for you to
write in the amount you are paying. Your mailing address
is in the center of the coupon, and the address where you
receive our service is located in the upper left corner.
If you should lose your payment envelope, please remit your
payment to the post office box listed on the payment coupon.
- Your
Account Number
Please use this number when you call or write us about
your account.
- Service
Address
Shows the address receiving the service. The name and
address of the person responsible for bill payment is shown
on the payment coupon.
- Prior
Billing Information
An itemized record of the charges and credits occurring
on your account, including payments and any outstanding
balance prior to the current billing.
- Current
Charges for Service
Includes your gas costs (a charge based on the cost
of gas for the current billing month) and your service and
delivery costs. It also shows local taxes and other current
charges.
- Due
Date and Amount
Shows the total amount due, including the Virginia
gross receipts tax. Payment must be received by the date
it is due. If paying by mail or in person, please allow
time for processing.
- Meter
Information
Identifies the dates covered by this bill, along with
current and previous meter readings. The difference between
the two meter readings is the "Gas Used" for the number
of days indicated. Your gas usage is shown in Ccf (1 Ccf
= 100 cubic feet of gas). Your meter is read every month.

Provides information explaining charges and adjustments
to your bill, and other items of interest.

Second
Bill Page
If your bill contains more than one page, your second page
coupon section includes a convenient order form for our most
popular literature. To order your free brochure, simply enclose
the order form in your bill payment envelope. The remainder
of the bill contains important customer information.
